Barcelona

Running in Barcelona, between the Parc Guëll and the Sagrada Familia, will take you to a veritable open-air museum dedicated to Gaudi's works. The city is full of majestic historic buildings, and its modern waterfront mixes tourists and surfers alike.

Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia and Spain's second largest city, is built on several hills, offering the experienced walker or runner a pleasant challenge. Its wide avenues allow you to run from the mosaic dragon guarding Parc Guëll to the Font Magica, the spectacular fountain on Montjuïc Hill. The green Parc de la Ciutadella is ideal for short distance runners. If you like to run in the cooler weather, despite the high summer temperatures, the sea breeze nicely refreshes the waterfront.Barcelona's foundations date back to the pre-Christian era. Because of this long history, the city boasts a remarkable architectural diversity. The modernist work of Gaudi can be found in various parts of the city, alongside the Gothic quarter which houses the Picasso museum. The city's second Roman wall borders this shimmering ensemble.
